A PRIVATE PROJECT BUILT ON PASSION.

The White Gecko brings together my enthusiasm for engineering, exceptional cars and the stories that grow out of them.

About me

My name is Tobias Welker, born in 1984. I am a father and work in vehicle development at BMW. Cars have always fascinated me โ€“ not merely as a means of transport, but as a combination of engineering, craftsmanship and emotion.

Even at school, I enthusiastically gave presentations on active and passive vehicle safety systems. Later, while studying automotive electronics, I helped fellow students establish Einstein Motorsport e.V. โ€“ with the aim of building our own racing car and entering competitions.

As technical director, I helped design and build our first racing car. In 2006, we competed with it against international teams at the Formula Student event at the Hockenheimring โ€“ at the time still powered by a 600 cc motorcycle engine.

Ever since, the dream of one day building a car for myself has never disappeared โ€“ perhaps a Lotus Seven or an AC Cobra kit. Today, my Wiesmann MF4 GT is probably the most beautiful connection between that old dream, my passion for engineering and a fulfilling family life with three wonderful daughters.
